..... or why I won't be buying another watch for the rest of this year. I bought this DateJust from @emilio with some help on condition and valuation from @ICONO. I want to thank them both. Emile was a fast shipper and took extra care on packaging the watch. I didn't think I was a Rolex fan until I saw this watch, but I like the all stainless look of it with the little bit of pizazz in the dial. My wife says this is my "Holiday Watch", as it was purchased and paid for on my maternal Grandfather's birthday, July 2nd, arrived in the U.S. on July 7th, her birthday and was picked up by her this a.m. on July 12th, our 33rd anniversary. The fact she hasn't killed me over this confirms my feelings I picked the right girl. I am wearing it for our anniversary supper tonight and I am pretty sure I will be wearing it at Christmas, New Years and etc. Definitely a holiday watch. Thank you all for looking.

Yours has the “Tapestry” dial, one of my favourites. Mine says hi. Not currently on my wrist. One owner (me), 30 years old (the watch, not me). This is another favourite Rolex Dial of mine.

That dial makes it one of the most unique DJ’s I have seen- total stunner. Wear it regularly, don’t reserve it for occasions like crystal or China- use your best stuff every day. Life it too short.

 

Thank you all for the kind replies. It will be worn a lot more than just holidays, I promise. I have to honeymoon with it for the next several days, of course. ;-) I have found myself very drawn to stainless cases on stainless bracelets of late. This will get a lot of wrist time and I know you will all get a little laugh, like my wife did........and I know you and she are right.....but at the moment I feel this completes my collection.......for the moment.

It’s amazing how overlooked the classic oysters (DJ’s OPD, older Airkings, Perpuals) are in the current collector world which seems singularly focused on the sport models. These were the original sport models-total classics. I think every watch collector should have at least one in their collection.

One has to have at least two, simple dial stainless and also a two tone or with a complicated dial like tapestry or linen
