How hard is it to find another caseback for it? Original.
Or can the inscription be machined off?
It’s very much a matter of choice, but I’d wear it for a while before altering any aspect of it. Some of us prefer to maintain the integrity of a watch's history; original dial, hands, inscription etc and in your watch's case (no pun intended) only you will be aware of what’s on the back.
If you really can’t live with the inscription, it’s far easier to have it professionally polished than source another caseback.
GIve it a chance. It had meaning to someone, you don't want to pave over that history.

Don’t polish that case back. The damage you do will be greater than leaving the inscription.
Ain't nothin wrong with that case back...
What do you think of the condition of the watch?
Very nice. It still has the original crown, now unavailable. Nice dial, lugs without visible gold plate wear.
