Arrived in late November dead as a door nail. After checking references I took a chance with a watch service in my town instead of driving into the city and paying their premium. Lesson learned..I have been paying WAY too much. The local service does full vintage restoration, employs more watchmakers and charges way less. View attachment 326061
What a beauty! Yes, I wonder how many older watchmakers are out there, struggling to get by, because they don't have a younger relative to help create a blog or post on the forums...
Nothing was done to the dial and case ... movement only. It was stunning but frozen when it arrived. Since it is now under warranty I'm not opening the case.
Lovely and imposing. The only thing nit to pick is that the watchmaker could have gotten the tarnish off of those hands and hour markers. Pure cosmesis of course...
I told them not to. Thought about it but decided not to risk damage to the hands. Seller also advised not to. Actually in person the tarnish adds character.
Good call on the extent of the service. Would you care to share the watchmakers contact? The watch is stunning
