    Hi all,

This is my first post in this forum. My renewed interest in this "club" is caused by the 105.012 -66 CB that I acquired yesterday. The watch is not in "mint" condition, but I thought it was very honest looking. Unfortunately (or fortunately - depending how you see it) the watch was engraved with the original owners birth date (social security number). Knowing that I could easily trace him and give him a call. He was also the seller so the watch is a one owners watch. He told me he bought in when he finished college in 1968 (my birth year), that he had worn it every now and then and serviced it regularly. Box and papers went missing over the years, bracelet was exchanged in the mid eighties to a 1450/808. Hands and dials shows some corrosion, but I think that is fine since they are the original ones. Some paint is also lost close to the hand centre probably from loosening and re-attaching them during service. I have not sean a CB case before, but to my eyes - correct me if I´m wrong - the case seams polished and the "edge" is not very easy to see. I hope that won't ruin the value totally? Currently I´m waiting for the Omega Archive extraction to confirm which bracelet it had. But probably I´m looking for a 1039? Thank you all for sharing your knowledge.

Great piece. Leave it as is or sink $$ into it to get it refurbished. Either way you have a great watch.

Great find - well done. The "chronocreep" on the hour sub-dial is a good indication that the watch needs a service. If you want to preserve the value of the watch, then keep everything as original as you can. Don't send it to Omega and only use a watchmaker who understands that he shouldn't touch the dial and hands or polish the case. But cleaned up, this will look fantastic.

It won't be long before you feel the irresistible need to buy another one to go with it....

    Hi,
Nice watch indeed - well done! The CB lug facets do look a little indistinct, but the CB watches are not that common, so good job in grabbing one. The Extract will not tell you which bracelet it originally had. For your watch either 1506 bracelet and #16 end links would be correct, or 1039 / #516. If you want to get an original bracelet, then 1039/516 are more plentiful, but expect to pay $2-3k for set (couple on ebay at present).

Great watch mate! I have a 1965 with the HF case. I really like the 1966 CB cases so thankyou for sharing your photograph with us. Have you got any showing the single bevel case back?

Followed the auction too - as you say, not a mint example, but I think you did pretty well. Great bracelet too.

    Congrats.

Today I met with two people from one of the (maybe THE) leading Swedish auction houses. One of them a very well known Omega expert. He verified that my speedy is indeed correct apart from the crown ( and bracelet-which I knew) which is from a later date. Otherwise it was perceived as an untampered watch totally in line with the original owners story. IMG_8758.JPG So no I'm looking for the correct 6,75mm crown with the old logo and 24 teeth. Any ideas where to look? eBay?

I already found the correct bracelet and I hope I will be able to buy it. For now a new pic on NATO strap. IMG_8758.JPG

Great looking watch, congrats on a great piece!
The crown reference number for a original crown for your watch would be 43069, it may help you with your search. Best of luck!

    @Peter Lundberg
Terrific example, congratulations on your new acquisition!
FWIW, I think some of the later 25 mil movement numbers came with 1116 bracelets with 575 ends, so as many as three bracelet styles can be correct for your '66 model.

I don't know if they call it that, I personally have never heard anyone call it that.
Hopefully someone here chimes in and lets us both know.

According to a reference book on Speedmasters my watch should have a 24-teeth 6,75mm crown. According to a site with Omega Spare parts it´s spare part no 43018 which is a 6,7 x 3,7 mm crown with
That reference ("A1 24-teeth...) is from the Speedmaster "Holy book" used by, amongst others, the auction house Bukowskis in Sweden. It's what their specialist on Omegas, and probably the "go-to" man in Sweden regarding vintage Omegas use to authenticate Speedmasters. I have a picture of that side of the book but can't post it due to copyright reasons. I could e-maile it though? Anyway that crown is almost impossible to find and most seam to use a similar but with modern logo and 32 teeth. However I DID find one today, NOS, so now it's of for service and change to its right crown! I'll get back with picture when it's serviced!

Thanks, that is very interesting to know, I appreciate you sharing that with us. I will have to see if I can find some books on the Speedmaster.
That must be a old crown reference, My books call for 43069 but probably because they no longer have the 43018.
Best of luck on your service, Look forward to seeing it.:)
