So here's the before ... wrong hands, wrong crown, two damaged wheels, wrong hairspring, worn balance ... Now, he is retired, he does work at his own pace and purely for enjoyment ... and he doesn't listen if you ask him not to resume the hands ... but running as it did when new:
I'm not sure but I'm really hoping it's the light. He's a great guy but sometimes he "does too much" . He told me that when he removed the hands, the lume crumbled and fell out. I said to leave the hands without lume (I'm pretty sure that they're not correct anyway). I wanted the watch repaired to running condition and no more. He later said that he had relumed the hands and also machined an old Rolex crown that is the correct size and shape for the watch so that it fits this tube. The thing is ... he's charged me £50 for the complete repair. I couldn't complain if he repaired the hands with a Sharpie.
To watchmakers shrink when they retire? How bout Purchasing Guys? My doctor ordered me to do two things yesterday 1) shrink 2) retire. Wonder if it’s a thing?
Your doctor ordered you to shink? That's to take a shit in someone's sink and leave it. Can I have his office number? I need a new PCP...
She a little and very terrifying Chinese woman who uses sarcasm and guilt like a scalpel. Best motivation to do what she says is the fear of dissapointing her! Early diabetes so I need to listen.
Even more reason to follow what she says closely. However, I would advise against using your own home. Go down the street, to the house of the guy that never returned your snow-blower from last winter...
No, 50 British pounds for the service, relume, supplying and turning down the inside of a period Rolex crown .. Did I mention he said he had to make a hairspring to fit?
