I love tropics. Are omega tripic watches as highly soughted out like rolex ones are?
People always love tropical dials. Definitely drives up desirability/price, not sure if it would really be proportional to a Rolex though.

Really caught the light right in this picture! It goes crazy in the light. I swear this is straight out of my iPhone, no editing whatsoever!

Pretty unreal, right?

Thought this one was special enough to make a thread. The dial is just ridiculous. The even patination literally sparkles. Black dial is perfectly aged to this amazing coppery color, especially when the light hits it.

Pretty happy with this find! And I do know that it has a Connie crown on there, but it suits it well enough for now. Hope you guys like it!
LOL. I was in two minds if it was patina or did Omega release a model that had a brown spekled vintage dial the patina is that good and even, it made me think. A very special one!

Beautiful patina, I love how it looks almost like cork

I have one with the same dial. There must be something in the finish over the paint that over time breaks down and gives this appearance. Every one is unique. What kills me is some people refinish these because they want that brand new black color appearance.

What is really nice is how the finish breaks down, but the other logos, paint, and lettering remain in good condition. Contrasts it nicely.

absolutely lovely!
As you mention copper, I thought the base plate generally were from brass!?

Haha, I agree! It is so even...only a tiny blemish by the 11. I have to assume it was once black, right? I don't think it could have been anything else (if anyone has a possible correction, I'd love to hear)

Wow! That is very interesting. It is like a painting or a mosaic out of the breaking of the finish! That's a cool one too.

Sorry, I just meant "copper color" because of the tone when the light hits it. It goes from chocolate to copper based on the light.

ah, ok. So probably also brass underneath shining through the fading-away layer of varnish giving it this superb copper look 👍

Mine is beginning to do this as well...

Although can't seem to get good picture of it, much cooler in the flesh.
