My grandfather gave me a Seamaster and I want to know more about it

All I know is that is a Seamaster Calendar, it has a black dial and the case is gold plated. My grandfather bought it used in 1960. The original strap is gone, the crown is not the original, and it now has the back case from a Constellation.
Be aware that I'm only got into watches not long ago and I don't know much about this, all the info is welcome.

Is there any way to get the watch open and take some pictures of the movement and the inside case back. Another few pictures of the profile of the watch would be helpful (preferably with less glare :)).

Enjoy the watch! An heirloom like this is priceless in its sentimental value!

This is the best I can do right now with just my phone. I can't open the watch because I don't have the tools, but maybe tomorrow a can take it to someone to open it. 20170327_170443.jpg 20170327_170556.jpg 20170327_170804.jpg 20170327_171029.jpg 20170327_171042.jpg 20170327_171123.jpg 20170327_171214.jpg

The back is from a Constellation. Need to see inside to tell you anything else.

Take a picture of the case back - make sure the numbers and letters inside are clear and upload that too, it will be helpful too!

This is the best my phone can do... Keep in mind that this is not the original back case, this one is from a Constellation, the original one was lost. 20170327_184136.jpg

If I manage to see the serial number correctly (it starts with 16...) then the movement would date back to 1958. Others can be more helpful about the dial...

The number is 1699 and I'm not sure about the rest.
From those I would say that the CK 2849 looks almost identical, the only diferences I see is that mine does not have the lumen and says "calendar"

I found this image on google by searching those numbers. It looks exactly like this one but my case looks more yellow/golden. 34906-06558511c519101700ad0b1f38a9fb69.jpg

I notice that the dial in that picture has what appear to be circles at the beginning of the arrows, and at 3. Does your dial have that? Additionally - I would be cautious when using the watch if you don't know when the last time it was serviced, as it can damage the watch. Still waiting on veterans for some input :whistling: (I still don't feel qualified to be giving you any absolutes and I'm not sure if there is anything major that I am missing here.)

Good point, mine does not have that... and I noticed now, the leters on mine are white, not gold.

The case looks exactly like ref. 2849, but the only way to know for sure is to get verification from Omega based on the serial number. That's not necessary though. Just look for a used 2849 case back then sell the Constellation one, which is in good condition and worth more than the 2849's.

To wear it regularly, just get the movement serviced, the crystal and crown replaced, then enjoy it as is.

This one has screw-in back, different from the OP's. There're probably some other similar models, but the most common one I've seen is 2849.

Yes, I'm a dickhead. Mind went "Connie, has to be a screwback"...................and I couldn't see the obvious.

    @X350 XJR was spot on.

I'm now going to get my eyes and my brain checked.
