    Hey Guys,

I was just recently introduced to vintage watches and this 1969 Omega Seamaster Cosmic is my first purchase. I paid $400.

Here are some thoughts and concerns, would love to hear your feedback:

    1) I do not think the metal band is original as it fits a little sloppy. I intend to fit with a leather strap ASAP
    2) There is no "T" next to swiss made
    3) It seems to tick more than sweep.

Other than that it is in excellent condition, and seems to keep good time.

    Thank you

The case is a little too polished, but a watchmaker can put the proper circular or radial brushing on it.

The second hand actually does tick, just not once per second - more like 5 to 8 times depending on the bph of the caliber.

There's no T on the dial because the dial doesn't have any tritium lume. The hands do though, so I'm wondering if they're replacements.

For $400 you did okay, especially considering that bracelet might be worth $50 - $80 alone. Have it properly serviced.

The brushing looks better than the high polish...

Other than feeding what may turn into an obsession, think you did just fine.

Not bad for a first attempt. Things to notice for next time are the level of polishing on the case, the condition of hands and dial and the condition of the movement.

In this case (for movement checking) you have a unishell or front loader case that has to be opened from the front by removing the crystal. Not a job for a beginner.

The bracelet, although nice, is incorrect for this case and it's been modified by grinding the end pieces to provide a (not very good) fit. You could remove it and use a nice leather strap of the correct size and it would improve the look of the watch quite a bit.

    Cheers

Actually, if you double check, it has small lume dots on the outside of the hour markers, best visible at the 5 and 12 markers, so the missing Ts are really strange.

I used to have one very similar:

Others have mentioned the polishing, the correct finish is as per my one above but for $400 that's a decent buy. They're great watches so wear it in good health.

Considering the amount of time that I have put in online and searching shops in the city, I'd say I'm in trouble
