Hello fellow geeks.. Im on the lookout for my first vintage Speedy and i've got my eyes on this.. for sale on Ebay, seller seems legit but it's been for sale for 3 months now, and this got me thinking.. Anything i should be aware of? Seller wants 4000 €, which i think is a bit high for cal 861, but the patina is just so.. perfectly inperfect Thanks /Jacob
It's a watch that has a definite attraction. However, it's also a watch that may look significantly better or worse in person - the dial and bezel in particular. The case doesn't look overly polished but it is definitely worn. Again, at the right price it's a nice watch but it's hard to determine exactly what that price is as condition is king.
Just about everything about that watch is in below average condition, which is why nobody's jumping on it. However, it looks honest and complete, and if you happen to like it, why not make an offer that you're comfortable with.
Yes, it has a very peticular patina and that's what i find attractive about it. I will make him an offer that reflects my valuation of the watch and the wear/condition of the hands, case and bezel
Thanks, glad to read that it looks honest and original as was also my impression. I have mad him an offer that i am comfortable with and reflects my valuation of the watch
Congratulations! In my eyes a nice looking watch, not perfect in a sense of perfect condition, but it has „soul“, and that‘s perfect in a way, too.
How much? Are prices higher in Europe? There are almost always criticisms on condition, but I like originality. It has a nice vintage look. Enjoy it and I hope it garners attention and gives you good service. I consider these 145.022-7Xs to be the last of the affordable "vintage" Speedies.
Thanks - i think the org. 1171 bracelet and originality/fade of the bezel, hands and dial is a big +. I pay'ed 3700 €. Nothing cheap these days regarding vintage Speedmasters i guess - especially if you want all parts to be the org.
