So I took the plunge and bought myself a vintage Omega. Despite reading about being careful of fakes it was an impulse buy without seeing the movement![emoji15] I got it locally in SA and the pics looked good so I took the plunge. Received it today and I'm very happy. To my untrained eyes it all looks fantastic. Paid around $400 which I think is reasonable.

    Geneve Automatic Cal 565, 166.041,
    fixo flex s strap 558.

Movement, not a great pic. I did it quick. Had it opened at a watch shop to check the movement as I hadn't seen it. Cal 565 which is correct from my research and serial starts 29 so around 1970 which is also correct. [emoji28]

Bad pic 166.041 which seems right.

Might be sacrilege but I changed the strap for a leather one. More my style. I think the blue leather and stitching bring out the blue dial.

Looks like a great first pickup @Whipper

Was about to suggest swapping out the fixo-flex for a nice leather strap, but you were way ahead of me.

    Enjoy it :)

Congratulations on your vintage purchase, lovely piece ~ Now hide your wallet as it has a tendency to empty after the first :)
