Hi guys Here is my recent catch, Surely this is a redial as the distance between the omega emblem and 'omega' word is quite far apart than usual. I very much love the gold numbers and indeces, it realy pops. Even though I think its a redial I definitely can live with it as it still shows some age (I really like watches with patina) Has cal 265 inside it and the caseback shows its a 2495-10 case. The catch, I knew it does not have the original crown but I still pushed thru with the purchase as I was thinking that I can get the original crown myself and get it installed. Bad news is I checked with ofrei did some research and this is what I got: DISCONTINUED ..the gold one is still available though.. Been looking at ebay but there are tons of crowns that look like the one in ofrei's, some have the same size, 5.4mm / 6.1mm but always different stem thread (0.9, 1.0) What do you guys think is my next best option in getting the correct crown for this? Any lead? Or similar crowns can be fitted on the case? Just leave it as it is? What bothers me is the color of the crown being different from the case. It is slightly 'whiter' What do you guys reckon?
Crown is probably chrome plated. You can order a new s/s crown. Just need to supply the caliber and case number to a parts supplier. You should also order a new stem as current one may have been cut to fit the incorrect crown DON
Hi don thanks for taking time to reply, can kindly you lead me to any omega parts supplier? Do omega still supply them and I can email them directly?
JFYI, the first clue that this is a redial is how the subdial looks - those numbers look very different from the rest of the watch. I'd wear it And what a great case!!
Can try my supplier in Canada. Always seem to have when I needed one, but haven't bought any in about 8 years http://www.perrinwatchparts.com/ DON
Cousins list a SS crown for a 2495 case. I'd check it's the correct one first but that is an Omega part number. Here are the details. It should be possible to confirm these dimensions. I wouldn't pay too much heed to the picture as they are often generic. You'd usually get a new stem (based on the calibre) as well because you cut these to length. You may be lucky that the previous stem works but I wouldn't guarantee it. Hope this helps, Chris.
Nice looking watch. Looks like you knew exactly what you were getting into [emoji108] +1 CousinsUK crown and stem.
Imagine that - the n00b's first vintage Omega and it's a redial. We never see that, do we guys? Trust me when I tell you to return it. You'll be less than thrilled with it as you get into this hobby.
Huge noob mistake will do better on the next piece since I would definitely learn a lot on this forum
