    Hey everyone,

First time posting here, long time lurker.

I just purchased this omega Seamaster Cosmic on ebay thinking it was a great steal but the more I do my research and look for similar models, I can't seem to find any like it. Did i just buy a fake omega or have any of you seen any watches like this one before?

Thanks, I would appreciate any feedback you experts have!

It’s a well known and perfectly genuine model. However, it is in very poor condition. Even at $80 odd I wouldn’t consider it a steal.

I would. The seller stole his money.

Yeah, you should have seen how happy I was to pay $200 for it. Oh well, you live and you learn.

    Hey,

Since you are just starting in this hobby, buying a watch THEN asking if it's real/authentic is a big no no. Do your homework before pulling the trigger.

    Cheers,

Crown isn't the original one. But with the bad shape of that watch it doesn't really matter. I would try to go for nice pieces in good shape and not the cheapest. You can always ask on the forum before buying. Good luck

Hey, i'd still wear it... Its a "rat cosmic". Sometimes there can be charm in wearing a beat-to-shit watch.

Not necessarily money well spent, but might as well make the best of it.

Quality advice. I've yet to see someone regret this approach.

He wanted to act first in order to not draw attention to the listing and reduce potential competition.

$200 is a pretty reasonable "noob" tax. Wear and enjoy but ask questions first next time.

@OmegaRolex but couldn’t he have done it by just posting pictures and no link?

Anyway just enjoy the watch that’s what matters.

Don't worry. Plenty of us would love to be able to say our noob tax only cost us $200!

Before you buy again, do plenty of research on sites such as this to avoid making similar mistakes.

You can reverse image search the images in about .5 seconds. but still, many won’t and I would like to think our community is respectful enough not to try an snipe a friends find... surely not 100% realitu, but I dont.

For every member browsing this forum, there is an average of 3 "guests". Draw your own conclusions from that.

That's a correct and completely valid point. For every logged-in OF poster, there are probably 50 anons browsing the same thread at any given time.
