Hi all...postman came! With thanks to those here who provided feedback on it...here is the Constellation won from eBay last week for $885 Paypal/shipped. It's better than it looked in the seller's photos.14902 SC 61 case, movement ref. 18602946. Dial looks very clean, just a little dust and the slightly crooked star, which Steve suggested may be loose. Case is very sharp, never polished. Movement was supposedly inspected by watchmaker in Mesa, AZ two years ago (movement picture taken then) and found in good order, but not serviced. Crystal is signed and has a few very light scratches. As the last photo shows, the band appears "incorrect" for the lugs and end links. The watch is fitted with No. 12, 18 mm end links, but a 16 mm bracelet 7-row BOR bracelet, which puzzles me. Bracelet does not have a number anywhere on clasp or links. Fake? Quality looks excellent. In any event, I would like to find a good 8220 or 8270 (per period advertising) bracelet from the period, which I believe would match to the "No. 12" links. (I'm in touch with Ted's Vintage Watches to see what he has...other tips? Thanks.)
Not sure but my bracelet is similar but has no numbers anywhere not even the end links. I read the 50's bracelets were before they numbered them? If I remember correctly.
Nice pic thanks. Ours are very similar; slight variation of the dial furniture. Could you posts pic showing the bracelet where it meets the case links? (like my photo at very bottom) Appreciate it.
Thanks Kja. You have the same end links but the 18mm version of my bracelet. That's what I'll be looking for. But maybe also a nice leather strap for dress wear.
Yes, I think Maybe the original broke at some point and maybe a watchmaker just used the old end links and put a 16mm one he had already on it? Either way you have the correct end links if you can find the bracelet. There should be ones on eBay but the bor bracelets sell at a premium. The one you have doesn't look bad though.
Agree. It's in quite good shape. I'll likely sell it to offset the cost of an 18mm. Providing there's market for the narrower one!
