I am hunting for my first Speedmaster. I would like to get one pre-1978. I found this on chrono24 but there is not much information on the watch. I have read a lot on spedmaster101 and i think that it could be 1976-78 but i am not sure as i have no experience. I would be very grateful for any thoughts or comments on this watch.

 

Difficult to say without movement pictures. Serial on the movement + type markings on the caseback will provide the most info.
Other than that, most pointers on this picture are consistent with a 145.022.
I like the patina on the lume. Crystal is obviously not in very good shape, but that's definitely not a show-stopper.

So i finaly found my first Speedmaster that i liked and the price was ok.
Serial is 4824****
And it has a very nice bracelet that i did not that was rare untill i got the watch and started to read abot it.

If you haven't looked already, ilovemyspeedmaster estimates a 1988 production. From my memory, that year would be right at the crossover point of 80's 145.0022's to the 3590.50, but I think the serial more likely puts it just inside the range of the latter. Have you looked inside the case back yet? Are the hands tritium? They look luminova in the pictures. The 1450/808 is neat, and it would be correct regardless.

 

I think that serail is estimated for 1990 but i am thinking of ordering an extract from omega.
Hands have a beautiful yellow collor just like 5min markers but its not visible in the pictures.

Thank you. Bracelet is really comfortable to wear to my surprise. But it is on the lighter side. I am used to the heavier modern ones.
