Thanks to ocrolexguy, I took delivery of a nearly-new Speedmaster this morning:

The slow search for a '66 will now commence. A new Planet Ocean I bought last month will keep this Speedy company until an older brother is found.

It was listed on watchrecon. Great place to get an idea of pricing. Was $800 less than a heavily-discounted NIB.

If you're looking for a -66 HF (Huguenin Freres) case, good luck!
If you're looking for a -66 CB (Centrale Boites) case, KEEP YOUR MITS OFF MY FAVORITE SPEEDMASTER!
    Kidding, of course :)
The -66 CB is in big demand, but the funny thing is? I see more -65, -66CB, -67, and 105.003-65's than any other 321 Speedmasters. Maybe the -66 HF is actually the rare one that year? Hmm...

I was asking about this specific watch. Addressed to the OP.
Seems like noobs wanting to learn must tread carefully here.

And that other (wanting to learn) thread was trying to establish the ratio of second hand prices, reduced vs pro. Totally unrelated to this question.

Ok, it seemed to me you were looking for the same answer in both instances...nothing against noobs around here besides the occasional jokes! :D

I am in the market for that watch. Pity not a lot trading around here.

@Kobus Red blends are my favorite. I'd check with @Kringkily, he's a reliable source around here when folks are looking for a Speedy.

Thanks for the info. I have not been at this long enough to seek one case over another. I'm hoping to find one in decent condition (i.e., decent dial, lume largely instact, case edges not too rounded off), but at this point that I don't have anything more specific on my wish list. Of course with each additional day I spend learning on this forum (and speedmaster101) there is a good chance I could add to the list.
