Heya guys I registered for the OF a whole ago in order to get information to buy a new speedmaster so I wouldn't buy a piece of junk or a fake. I wasn't really interested in a vintage model for a bunch of different reasons but today I ran into one and I pulled the trigger semi-blind. I'm not sure if I did well or if it's even something I should of bought I hope I didn't pay the idiot tax I'm so excited I stopped at a Dunkin' Donuts to take photos with my iPhone and I will get better once tonight with my wife's Canon
Looks like you're a winner! Very nice indeed. I'm presuming a 145.012-67. 1039/516 bracelet, raise seal dial, nice DON bezel, original hands. You hit it out of the park. Dial is is rate. Congrats and welcome. Have someone open up the back to be sure and get a service.
Well done. Looks to have some honest wear and not polished to death. As suggested, have that movement looked at.
Could it not be a 68 transitional too? In any case I think it's a service crown, but that of course does not detract from the fact that your research seems to have paid off in spades!
Also, there's this mark on the right side of all your photos that has me constantly thinking I've got something on my screen... I actually reached out a couple of times to rub it off!
Some better photos. Will try to get the back off later today. I've done it before with my Accutrons. Bit nervous with this guy The bracelet is marked 516
Yet to see the movement but on the face of it fair might be a bit of an understatement. Unfair to the seller perhaps - he'd probably wish he'd put in the same amount of legwork into research that you did...
Oh Jeez! I wasn't trying to take anyone for a ride. I was actually very nervous paying that much because I just don't know much if anything about vintage speedmasters. I was more concerned that it might of been fake or put together piece of junk.
Something tells me there would be a few that would let you off the hook. Maybe even make a tidy little profit 516 is the number assigned to the end-clips. Inside the clasp will be the bracelet number, probably 1039. Both of which would be correct for this model. Something tells me that of few of us would let you off the hook. Maybe even turn a little profit. DIBBS
Oh, VERY well done!!! Congratulations! Your hard work indeed paid off in spades! Forgot to add - throw in a snap of the inside of the caseback too, for confirmation!
