Just thought I'd say 'Hello' and tell you about my new (to me) watch I'm a complete Omega newbie. I have recently been given my father in-law's Omega Seamaster Cosmic 2000 (following a complete over haul through Omega Oxford Street) for my 40th Birthday. He was given it by his father in 1978 and it's been his daily watch ever since. Fortunately he kept the paperwork and original box safe so I have everything (I think). During the over haul it was treated to a new screen/glass, a new strap, clasp, crown and back plate (the original was engraved). Some internals were replaced too (I have a bag containing ALL of the parts replaced). To say I'm chuffed with it is a massive understatement Here are some pics (apologies for the quality, they were taken on my phone) Thanks for looking Stewart
Welcome Stewart. That's a nice looking watch. The Oxford St boutique have their own watchmaker - it's good to see your heirloom was treated sympathetically.
Thanks I'm actually 2nd in line to wear this one as my father in-law's dad bought it new for him back in '78. My son (he's 4yrs old) will be 3rd in line for this . My father in-law has his father's Omega still though. I'm not sure what model that one is but it's gold with a wind up mechanism.
Welcome Stewart. Nice watch. But if you're going to keep up with all the other Englishmen named Stewart H on this forum, you're going to have to buy a Ferrari. And send me a stuffed albino marsupial of some sort.
Yes, welcome Stewart, and wow what a nice heirloom watch you have. Definitely a good one, congrdulations!
Welcome Stewart-great first watch!! Can't go wrong with a vintage Omega, and especially one with such good genes... BTW, your pics are great!! I'm looking forward to when you get a camera without a phone....
