My First Omega Wristwatch.

I am pretty excited to share the watch a friend gifted me. After having a watchmaker open its case and doing some research, I now know more details about this beautiful timepiece. The patina (or what others may call "damage") is what attracted me the most.

Produced in the 1950s (approx.)
Reference No: 2504-12SC
Calibre No: 283
Movement Serial No: 13094448

Any thoughts on what type of strap I should replace the watch with in the future? How would a brown Alligator strap look? Is it worth ordering an 'Extract' or a 'Certification of Authenticity from Omega?

Enjoy the photos!

You can probably narrow it down to 1952-53.

Yes, I agree on the patina -- it's really quite lovely. And a brown or black crocodile strap would really jazz this one up. Regarding the Extract, why not give it a shot? You may learn something interesting about its origin -- you never know. Congratulations on your first Omega!

Great Omega! 👍 I would vote for light-brown lizard. The strap should not dominate a watch.

That's a very nice gift, congrats and enjoy. Personally, I would go with a less dressy strap and more of a matte finished leather, even a distressed vintage style strap, check out Hodinkee's for the style, not suggesting you have to buy from them. For me it compliments the patina of the dial more than say a shiny croc strap, which is perhaps too contrasting. It's personal taste of course.
