First off - thank you for your guidance and spot check on the few watches I was looking at. I ended up going with a quartz for more practical, budget-driven reasons. Attaching a few pictures of my new SMP - how did I do? I'm planning to take it in on Monday or so, have the band lengthened and the back opened, just to spot check things. Any advice there? Thanks again!
Congratulations, it looks good. Now you need to read Al's (Archer's) thread here http://omegaforums.net/threads/quartz-watches-some-information-some-may-find-interesting.5475/ to realise that owning a quality quartz watch is not just about changing the battery when it stops.
BTW, these also look great on a mesh bracelet. Here's member Wetworks's on OEM Omega mesh, but looks nice too on the much cheaper wjean mesh available on eBay. Also save wear and tear on the original bracelet.
Very nice watch! If you are going through the trouble to have the caseback opened, you might as well have the battery changed.
Thank you for all the kind words and recommendations. I really love the chain mesh band - seriously considering it. I had some pictures taken of the insides today, before a battery change, new sealing/gasket/lubrication, and a successful pressure test. I was hoping you could take a look at the internals and give me your thoughts? It looks like greek to me, although those pink/purple looking stones sure are attractive. I'm asking as I discovered today that the box serial number differs from the watch serial number. Should I be concerned? I've included pics of that below. Internal: Serial # discrepancy: 57061322 56978226 Maybe the jeweler just gave out a random, however infamous, white box. Thanks for any of your thoughts.
You asked "How did I do..." however you didn't tell us what you paid so It's difficult to say "..how you did"...
