    Hi everyone,

First of all, i'm new in the forum, thus I will try to present my self. During the last 15 years i've been increasing my enthusiasm in watches. The last years since I received my grandfather's old Tissot cal. 27 I start looking into vintge with other perspective! Is time now to buy my favorite watch ever: the speedmaster. I've been looking at the ones from the 80s, but they seem so over priced. Could you please help me where on-line I could find a good exemple from the 80's for around €2.5k? Thank you very much for your help!

Thanks a lot for the help!

What should be a fair price for speedy from the 80's?

    Thanks a lot!

check watchrecon ads and ebay complete auctions for an idea. Condition plays a big part. But in general plan on ~$3,000 USD.

Try not to just look for the cheapest as you could end up paying more in the long run. (Repairs and service). Keep a eye on here and ebay and have your money ready as the bargains dont last long. ;)

Thanks for your advice Standy! Actually I have been looking at one near me, from the 80's just serviced and all original. Has some minor scratches, but all normal from usage and the dial is well perserved. The seller also seem very honest! The only constrain is that is 3k€ a bit over my Budget. I was looking at something about 2.5k€. Maybe that is the fair price of the watch.

2500 is a little low so we don't want you buying a piece cheap that needs work. The one above sounds like a honest piece. (Post pictures here and the crew will weed out any issues for you)

I understand and makes all the sense! I really enjoy this one and the seller was really helful and nice, answering to all of my questions, even opened the back case. In the he also told me that he gives 2/3 years warrranty. Probably this one is the right to go.

I've also a couple months try one from late 90's with the cristal case back for 2500. But in my ideia for a difference of 500€ makes more sense to go for the 145.022. What do you think?

Go for the reference that you like most.
The advantage of the crystal back is that the movement has a really nice finish and that you can have a look at it.

Guys, sorry to bother you again. I've been reading and aparently speedmaster only holds its value until the ref 145.022-78. However, when I look at the 145.022-84 I don't see any diferences. Could you give me an hand on this one as well? Thanks!

One final question on this topic. Do you believe that 3000€ ases for this one are a fair price?

The way the market is going all pre 90s speedmasters should see an increase in price. I think this is so because so many early ones are getting expensive. When I joined this forum 2 and a bit years ago you could get a nice early 70s one for around 1500 euros but today you are probably looking at 3500 to 4000 euro. This leads people to start looking at newer ones which eventually pushes the price up of those too. If you have found one you liked are happy with the price buy it. In 6 months time it might be more expensive and out of your reach.
