Hello watch enthusiasts,,
Last night I bought my first JAPANESE automatic diving watch... and guess what!?.. it is Seiko SKX007!
Thru the reviews made on this iconic timepiece i thought it has been already discontinued (please correct me if im wrong) so I was struggling between Steinhart OVM and Chr.Ward Trident as plan B, until i found this SKX in a shop window last night!!
I did not hesitate for picking it immediately and i am really happy i did .

Please enjoy the photos, and feel free to put your comments and if you find that interesting.

Regards,
Sameh.

Apart from Russian watches, I think that among the best price to automatic movement ratios you can get in a new watch. Plus you would actually dare to dive with it. I might be a wuss and a hare, but I would not dive with a Submariner.

The only dive watch for me to be used swimming or scuba diving can be a G shock and this Russian Amphibian Scuba Dude diver which is the same price point. A Seiko SKX, ERKS, Sunto or Citizen would good choices also.

I have a scuba dude incoming. Same bezel I think. Going to try it out diving and when I go to Veysonnaz skiing in a couple of weeks.

It's impressive. Brilliant engeneering. Very much the reason I wanted to try one out. Plus I got a Komandirski from '89 at an auction recently. Such a beater I just kind of wanted one more 👍
The Amphibian is the better one for diving and extreme temperature activity. I recommend you get a good Nato or rubber strap, the stock straps are not good unless they are rubber. I urge forum members to watch the video, not so they can buy one but just to appreciate horology from another view.

Yes, the Komandirski is just base metal, correct? I've already ordered natos for it 😀 Looking at the metal bracelet in the photos when ordering didn't inspire absolute credulity, so to speak. And yes, I got the blue dial with the scuba dude. Lug width is 18 mm even on the new ones, right?

Back on topic, congrats on your new watch. I've considered picking a 007 on several occasions, but haven't done it yet. I hope you enjoy it!

The Amphibian is SS throughout, 100% on this. The Komandirski is a base metal of some sort I think? My lugs are 22mm but they are versions with 18mm as well. I got 22mm again as my black face and different case design Amphibian is also 22mm. Sorry to the OP, we have gone off the subject if Night Owl or anyone else wants to talk Boctok PM me.

I agree with you totally. Gaining experience leads to accepting ideas and understanding how others think..even changing some own quotes when necessary😀.
