The warranty card and receipt says July 1972.
In his later years he complained of battery life, general stability and that it was to heavy.
He put it away and praised his Seiko gold plated municipal acnolegementary apraisal for long and true services till his dying day.
However, after som research i have found that the Omega original specificated battery no longer meet the needs of the bapparatus.
That an alternativ battery delivering the true 1.35v needed is available.
What is the designation of said powercell?
I am aware of the fact that problem may be due to coil failure, ie no energy delivered to excite the tuning fork to present the needed 300hz or something to keep the engine going
If the right powercell cannot remedy, what will the cost of repair amount to.
As this was left to me by my father, sentimental value outweighs monetary expence at leist a long way.
By the way. Is this timepiece as nice as i think and feel.
Regards.

There are indeed some electronic watch specialists around especially in the UK, it can be a little costly but if it has sentimental value it’s likely worth it. We do have a lot of members keeping fleets of F300s running so its definitely doable though. What region are you in roughly?

My advice is at your risk if you follow my suggestion. I use a 1.55 volt Renata 344 cell in these, and in my experience, they work fine, with no issues.

I picked up some Cannon FT cameras. There is a lot of info about battery substitution and adapters. The old batteries used mercury, which is something pretty nasty.
In camera light meters current flow is critical. There are silver oxide batteries that are close, and can be used with a diode to drop the voltage from the 1.55 to 1.3V. The diodes can be 'hidden' in a battery adapter ring. Lithium ion (which most batteries are these days,) are not recommended. It has to be silver oxide.
