·Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum and relatively recent watch enthusiast. I wanted to share my full experience buying my first omega watch as it has been amazing and was curious to hear your experiences too.
Little premise that I started collecting watches at 19 with a Tissot Seastar Powermatic 80 and since then started building up my knowledge day after day coming to this day in which omega is by far my favourite brand and not a great fan of Rolex which I believe is a mainstream brand bought by people with spare money that don't have any particular style or taste.
Anyway, here we go...
I started visiting an AD in my hometown where I bought my first Tissot. Going there every now and then I established a good relationship with the head of staff with whom I would talk a lot about watches, brands and also our personal lives. Last November they also invited me to their Christmas party in collaboration with longines. An amazing night full of watch enthusiasts to talk with.
Few days later I visited the ad again expressing interest in buying my first luxury piece from omega... budget max 10k. We spent a good hour talking and viewing models from a seamaster 007 to a classic speedy pro. End of the meeting I said I'd think a bit and come back in a few weeks. He gave me this amazing Omega Lifetime magazine Italian version that talks about the history of omega and also contains a massive genealogical tree. only 4000 copies ever produced.
Only a week later I decided to come back asking for the bank details, and to keep me the stunning Speedster 57 black version, saying that I would make the transfer with the new year and I would come back to pick it up mid January... not forgetting to mention I wanted some good omega freebies with my purchase. The AD seemed truly happy about my decision and looked like he really cared about diving me into the watch world. Original price was Euros 10,600 and got it down without even asking to Euros 9,300.
Not to mention, I am extremely happy with my choice... the watch is insane and I can't stop wearing it. Only thing is the fear of theft.
Coming to freebies I got an insane Omega duffel bag that felt extremely rare and I'm so happy with it.
Final though: I can't wait to buy a new piece and have this amazing and addictive experience all over again.
What was your experience ? and what do you think about how mine went? any tips for the future ?
Thanks and speak soon 😀
