My Ed White project #1

I thought I would share a project I'm working on in restoring this watch. For clarification: when I say restoring, I mean talented others are doing the work, I just pay.

I bought a spares or repair 105.003-65 SP at auction in July,2024

Movement 25,441,xxx
Dial A7 close T
Caseback ok
Case scuffed and not too polished
Bracelet 1035 with 516 ends
Everything else is missing or wrong

Off to watchmakers ..... movement seems to be running ok; fingers crossed
Managed to get a set of original 4.5mm pushers and original hands from an Omega owner who always wants his watch like new after he sends it for service. He's happy having service parts fitted.
The plots at 5 and 6 o'clock are poor, so I've sent the dial and hands off to a dial specialist to see if the dial can be cleaned up / recovered.. No work done yet.

Everyone seems to be on holiday at the moment. So held in abeyance.

When finalised, I'll give a costs summary.

516 EL are 20 mm., I believe.
I'm sure you are correct. I know Ed Whites are 19mm lugs (I'm wearing one right now). As I have an XL wrist, I usually fit with leather straps from The Strap Tailor in the UK. Not really looked at the bracelet and bracelet ends yet .... they're at watchmakers.

516 may be a typo on my part, it could be 506. I'll check when I get the package back. Thanks for the information.

506 are the correct 19mm Endlinks for later Ed Whites.
Who’s the dial specialist? If you’re in the UK the only person I’d be using is James Hyman

Hit the nail on the head! I wouldn't use anyone else. Takes a while but excellent quality. Hopefully he can clean the dial up. If not, relume I'm afraid.

I'm hoping the 516 is a typo on my part, and should be 506. I won't know until the package is returned to me.

Sounds good. James is a magician, he’ll know what’s best and improve the dial significantly

Will do. That's the dial I told you about that I'm sending to James Hyman (not Reg). Hopefully he can clean it to an acceptable standard, if not I'm afraid I'll have to ask him for a sympathetic relume.

This is what I wear most days. I think you grow an affinity with some watches as you bring them back from the edge.
