Bought it new at the Winter Olympics in 1968 for a cnote. Yes the bezel has been replaced but I have the original don. Wondering if the case back oring is 34x36x1. She’s (obviously) a daily driver and loses a few minutes a week. Yes I’m technologically challenged.

Do you still have the original box and papers - Interested to see how it was packaged.

Unfortunately, no. It was worn around Europe for a few years and came back to the States as a used item.
And I’m still trying to verify the dimensions of the case back oring so I can replace it.

I wish I have such amazing vintage watch in the future I could say I bought by myself and I was wearing it all that time. IMO, all "signs of wear" become added value in such case.

I am sure someone will help you with the info. Out of interest over its life how many times did you service the watch / how much did it cost you for servicing? It looks like you have got your moneys worth from this one and it is great to have just one owner from new / nice watch you have.

It was serviced once back in the ‘80’s for I think $100- $200 which included at least a new bezel and crystal. I just started wearing it again since back then after my Rolexes finally quit running.

You give me hope in terms of running watches beyond the date..... but I think yours should get some special / sympathetic attention now as an old girl to try and keep the old parts intact.

Any decent watchmaker should be able to sort this out for you. Rather than just the o ring, a service will probably be in order.

@Sbond22 Why do you want to know the O ring size? I imagine it is hard to measure one accurately (all relevant dimensions) Like measuring a rubber band (plus you need to consider the profile an material spec). You would probably need the original technical drawing from Omega? Why not just use a part number and buy a new one from one of the many online sources? It seems a very common consumable part if you are talking about the main case back gasket. Not sure why you need to know the dimensions?

Only a moron or someone trying to sell $.25 orings for $25 would attempt (or suggest) to measure an oring (that he doesn’t have in the first place) instead of the groove in the watch that it sits in. And BTW, speaking of where someone is coming from, the last I heard Pluto isn’t technically even considered a planet anymore.

Agreed …. so you need to get into the groove to find the correct size for your ring piece?
For $0.25 I would just buy a selection and see what works.... unless they charge $25 shipping.

Seal groove width, diameter, and oring dimensions kinda go hand in hand. The material spec is called rubber. Since I’ve finally figured it all out myself and resealed the case back any winnings go to me.
