Hi there - I have my Dad's 1960 ish Omega dress watch which is in a poor state and which I intend to restore. Can anyone start me off by identifying exactly what it is please? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1347198934.678943.jpg

Can you do a picture of the movement and a shot of the inside of the caseback as well?

I think It's a 610 movement and the number on the movement is 19735651. The number on the case back is 14731SC 62

The movement is from 1962 according to the serial number which jives with the caseback's 62, and the SC means sweep center seconds which also matches up to the movement. The reference number is 14.731 but it doesn't pop up in the vintage database - no surprise though.

Ref. 14731 is in the Jules Borel database and matches up to a cal. 610 movement there.

    Everything looks right,

Thanks to everyone who has helped so far - I've found a specialist dial restorer 20 minutes from where I live! Unbelievable luck. I'm trying to trace a glass and bezel then I'll get it all put back together. I'll be back with more updates.

Just had a photo of the restored dial back

I hope to get the finished watch back in a couple of weeks when the new bezel arrives but so far, I'm really pleased :)

As a wearable watch, you can't complain about that, it'll look nice on the wrist when its together

    "Complain"? - I'm delighted :)
The watch that my Dad bought new in '62 and which I remember him wearing while I was growing up is starting to look amazing - I can't wait to get it back.

Its a figure of speech, meaning it looks quite nice, some redials are childishly bad

    I know - I was joking :) I'm pleased with this.
Just on a point of interest, this is the original dial that has just been cleaned up - does that count as a "Redial"?

Well, it isn't the original dial anymore because they stripped it to the bare metal and repainted it. Notice the SWISS MADE is higher and further apart. It's the first thing we look for when determining originality which is very important to a collector. Still, they did a pretty nice job. The dial was so bad that refinishing was the right thing to do.

Yes, a redial was in order. I've sent some watches in for this service that were so bad they were unreadable. Unless the watch is going to sit in a museum, I want to be able to see what time it is!!!! Nice watch, can't beat an heirloom.:)

Great story, looking forward to seeing final pics.

Would you mind sharing cost for redial?
