Hi All I am new to this forum so a big hello to you all! I am also new to the Omega Speedmaster owners club, it has been a long time coming but boy have i been missing out. Like many i have loved the Speedy Pro for many reasons and not just the heritage and styling. For me Speedmaster ownership closes off a long personal chapter between my late father and I. My father was an astronomer, a super smart qualified Astrophysicist, who first showed me the surface of the moon through his telescope at the age of 4 - a memory never forgotten. He was always a humble man, neither rich or interested in wealth, but someone who loved mechanics and how things worked - a true ‘tinkerer’. He never owned an Omega Speedmaster but it was a watch he admired, i think he avoided ownership to always make the timepiece something to always be admired from afar, my like the moon itself. He passed away before i even though of asking him, so it is the best reasoning i could come up with. Anyway, i recently purchased my first Speedy, and in my true creative nature (nowhere near smart enough to be an astrophysicist) i customised the dial to be different and unique! I painted the dial to look like the night sky as you would see if from the surface of the moon - a real feast of cosmic brilliance. My father always loved my artwork and my Speedy is, in a obscure way, a father/son watch. It always brings a smile to my face when i look at it and something i will cherish for the rest of my life. Hope you all like it too Thanks Chris
Hi I had the dial removed and painted it using special paint and techniques i have devloped over the years - it took me about 20hours in total to do
Thanks dude it means a lot - painting a dial can be disastrous - sometimes subtlety is the best policy
Wow. Even amongst a group that usually is focused on maintaining originality, this is amazing. If I owned a modern speedy I might even consider doing this. Too bad the vintage virus will probably keep me from that. Thanks for sharing.
Looks great and good on you for doing a custom watch, if it means something special, as this clearly does, even better.
Lovely gesture…As a Father myself, I would be blown away by the generous thought, and time expended, behind your customisation
Kinda like turning the regular Speedmaster into the aventurine dialed version: https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/...moonphase-chronograph-44-25-mm-31130443201001
