I don't know, but personally I am not a big fan of the lollipop hands. Especially on the 2998... *ducking for cover*

 

I'm assuming you are referring to the aesthetics of it. Taken out of the context of the rarity factor, I can see the argument that it is less appealing than a more simply-rendered hand. However, because it is so uncommon, I think it is hard to separate these things out, and then it becomes more attractive because of the desirability.

 

Yes, aesthetically it just doesn't work for me.
I understand the rareity factor. But all things being equal, I'd take a regular "needle" hand any day over a lollipop. And definitely would not pay a premium for one over a "regular" example if I were in the market for a 2998, 2913 etc...

 

Here are some remakes...often the remake is not comparable to original.
