    Hi Guys!

Long time reader and first time posting....I hope this is in the correct section.

Anyway I think I’ve managed to convince my wife that I deserve a speedy pro for my big 4-0 but I’m totaly confused so I hope you guys can help me.

Should I get a used 3570.50 or a brand new speedy pro? My wife prefers to get it new but everywhere I read people say get a used 3570.50 as that’s the best version.

    Help me decide guys!!!

    G.

Get a new one if the wife is buying, used if you have to pay yourself and spend the difference on beer.

    Ahoy!

I was in exactly the same boat not so long ago, went new, not regretting it in the slightest.

    Yeah same.
Went new because I wanted to be the first (and only) owner.
Mine was a birthday present from the wife as well.

You can always find the exact piece you want later down the road...

Depends on how much money she wants to pay for your birthday.
3572.50 can be another good choice too::bleh::

Agree with those that have said new, if the wife prefers new that would strongly push me in that direction and it isn't as though buying new is giving you some poor version that you'll regret over time, it will always be a classic. Also you have the peace of mind that it should give you trouble free ownership for a good few years.

A counterpoint to buying new. Let me introduce you to ADon's Maxim: "It's going to be a used watch when I sell it or trade it. It may as well be a used watch when I buy it."

    Just my 2¢

    ;)

    PS> Happy Birthday!

I was in the same position, except I was paying. I went new, for the pleasure of being the first one to wear it, and for the larger presentation box and the goodies in the box.
The bonus, is that my watch is more precise than my best friend’s 3570.50

I'll go against the grain & say used.
You can get all the goodies just as well buying gently used , almost BNIB pre-owned from a lot of sellers here on the forum or forums. As soon as you walk out of the AD w/ your NEW watch it depreciates considerably.

Yeah I know the price will go down but it’s a Watch I’ve dreamed about for a very very long time so I think I’ll go new so it has more sentimental value when I pass it on to my son one day. I’ll never sell it...or my first Omega which my late father gave to me a couple of years ago.

I feel bad for my two Oris watches as I think they might struggle to get back on my wrist!

    Thanks everyone for your help!

For myself, I decided that if I wanted to pass it to my kids, I preferred to be the unique owner of it before them.
However, all point of vues are ok. Whatever Speedy you get, I am sure you will enjoy it.

Either buy brand new or find the best condition birth year model you can find.

There is no significant difference between the quoted versions.

So if a birth year watch doesn’t do it for you then brand new is best.

Normally I would say get a nice 145.022 from the 80s or a 3570.50 from the 90s still with tritium markers but a few weeks ago I was with a friend of mine, who had just bought a brand new Speedy and it looked amazing. Also the feeling of a brand new watch.... hard to beat. First owner, first wearer. Go new.

Here his Speedy is next to my darling Sub

Go new. Plenty of trusted sellers to purchase new from at a good discount.
