I just wanted to share some pictures of this Speedmaster that I inherited from my uncle. It is a 145.022-68 with a production date of Feb 6, 1969. It is a 861 and the movement number is 26.558.489. To my knowledge, it has never been restored or serviced, at least not in the last 30 years. I took it to the Omega Boutique here is San Diego, (side note; awesome people) they cleaned it and tested it, it is running between 9 and 10 seconds fast, not bad for an almost 46 year old watch. I am not looking to sell it and have a strong feeling this is going to be my first Omega of many, just wanted to share it with you guys. Let me know what you think.

    Its a lovely watch

Those hands seem to be (too) pristine, and the bracelet is the 1171/1 service replacement. I suspect the watch has been serviced at some point.

However the bezel dial and case are superb.

    An excellent example.

Nice watch. Can someone explain the MEISTER on the dial. Is that like a Tiffany dial only from a German store?

A very nice example. With Meister text as an added bonus. A rare piece.

I should have said to my knowledge. It may have been serviced early on, I do know it hasn't been serviced in the last 30 years. Thank you for the information on the bracelet, I did not know that.

Meister is very similar to the Tiffany label. Meister is a Swiss company.

You sir, have a fantastic uncle! Congrats, now I would get the movement serviced. I agree with others that the hands looked to have been replaced at some point as they look fresh. Great looking watch! Wear in good health!

Very nice, as suggest above have the movement serviced before wearing it but then you'll have something very nice to wear

Looks like so probably because of poor CRI lighting source. This picture appears to show the lume on the hands are quite close in colour to that on the dial's lume: http://omegaforums.net/attachments/20141216_204507-jpg.90814/. Could still be service replacement hands, but must have been quite old then.

Yea probably do need better lighting to say for sure, even if they are replaced though thankfully those hands are among the easiest parts to find on a vintage Speedmaster, that bezel is nothing short of exceptional

Hey, I've seen this watch before, with my own two eyes!!! Welcome to the forum Brian (its John here!!!)

I can tell you all, this '68 is exquisite, and to my eyes in person, the hands are 100% original. Unfortunately the photos here wash out the character, but they do match the dial beautifully, and overall this is just an amazing example of a '68. I thought the 1171 bracelet was correct for a '68, but I don't have my bible with me and I'm not one to disagree with @Spacefruit :D

Bottom line, they don't get much better than this one, Brian's uncle took amazing care of this Speedmaster, its in great hands now, and if I recall, he has some pretty generous plans for this watch.

I did make an offer to Brian for this piece, but obviously it was an offer he could refuse, and thankfully did. Had he accepted, I was going to slap him (bad idea, he's WAY bigger than I am ::screwloose::), and tell him to keep this in the family as an heirloom. That was already the plan.

Outstanding "transitional" example! With such a great Speedy as your first, no doubt you'll be hooked. ;)
What a great family piece, and obviously treasured by your uncle.

Meister is a swiss retailer based in Zurich. Does it mean your uncle bought it in Zurich 45 years ago.
Of course the bracelet is later replacement.
    Congrats!

what Spacefruit wanted to say is that this is a modern 1171 replacement bracelet, you can see it, if you look at the clasp and the endlinks.
The numbers are laser etched not stamped, laser etching technology wasn´t used back then.
But in Terms of timely correctness you are right, a Ref 1171 should fit. ;)

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I was let to believe the pre-1970 1171 bracelet clasps had the Omega logo in a trapeziod shaped box, not a square shaped box.

I'm a complete beginner in this, but I think the defining mark that it is a replacement 1171 bracelet is the '/1' after the ref. (correct me if im wrong!)
That is not to say that this is a great looking watch, thanks for sharing!
