in no particular order (and lumping the specific refs together as in RLX-Sub): what other true historic icons are there?
This one: Bulova milship prototype. The watch that never passed the tests, and which gave way for Blancpain to win US military contracts. But don't think you'll ever get one. http://forum.atgvintagewatches.com/showthread.php?1980-Bulova-UDT-prototype-at-Antiquorum
What about the Zodiac Seawolf? Along with the Blancpain it was among the very first divers - I'd swap out the Kontiki in that list for the Seawolf. The Seiko stays cause it's everyone's go-to cheap diver
Frankly there's no real need to add any. Just 4 of them (without the Kontiki) cover the essential bases.... (okay, fine, maybe the historic panerai with rolex movement... )
Some from my collection that I think belongs among the important divers (I can never get down to five...). First 1000m? Best 1000m? Coolest 1000m? The standard for many years - Sea-Dweller 16600 Almost unobtainium 1000m Zenith Maybe the last automatic old school 1000m - LTD Beuchat The meanest looking Captain Willards choice Because Norwegians had to go on a raft made out of straw... I have some of the divers I really want... The ones missing - Original Omega 300 (have "Watchco") Blancpain FF Universal Sub first execution Longines
Well this one passed the tests with flying colors, and you can actually find a decent example from time to time. https://omegaforums.net/threads/rol...fathoms-milspec1-vs-enicar-seapearl-600.5906/
Fantastic watch! Dougiedude sold one recently with a nice tropical dial on the sales forum and I nearly had to bite my hand off to stop myself.
But this is my favorite: First diver to 1000 ft. - December 2, 1962. http://www.vulcain-watches.ch/en/history/hanneskeller/index.html There's a decent one available here, if anyone is in the vicinity of Brescia (local pick-up only): http://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/231838550820Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network One of the crowns is wrong, though, and the strap is not original.
Oh well, this one then - Tudor snowflake, issued Marine Nationale (not mine, reposted from a repost).
@styggpyggeno1 Hit the nail on the head with the Coolest 1000m by far...... Australian navy divers issue ( this is one hell of a watch as far as bullet proof construction due to the DS system I believe he also has the Quartz model in just as good condition. I have the DS-3 reissue that I wear diving due to the original being scarce on parts The DS system explained http://www.watchalyzer.com/education/movements/certina-ds-protection-system/
Never have gotten into divers but this thread is nice. Only one I can muster is an early Zodiac Sea Wolf.
Hi I would suggest reading this on the DS SYSTEM as it is more accurate for vintage examples. http://www.vintagecertinas.ch/en/dseng.html Good hunting Bill Sohne Here are pics of my 14 k yellow gold DS and 18 k pink gold CERTINA DS example , too bad someone tried to clean dial and lost all text. As the vintage certina site says. "Despite the classical styling with the Bombay band lugs, the watch was very robust. She held out bumps up to 6 meters and was water resistant up to 200 meters."
