    Hi guys,

I've always had a soft corner for JLC's. With my recent interest in vintage watches, I was looking to acquire a simple time only piece and picked up this French market JLC. I realize this isn't the best picture as it looks a lot better in person but this is all I have for now.

    Some basic info:
    - Believed to have original dial, hands, movement (as mentioned by Zaf Basha as well)
    - Calibre 469A
    - 31mm stainless steel case

While I'm still getting used to the watch size, I definitely think this little piece has a charm all its own.

What do you think? Any thoughts on it's market value?

    Thanks

Very nice! I really like the oversized sub-dial, which denotes an older model, manufactured when (similarly designed) pocket watches were still in use.

This basic style JLC came with a variety of dial designs, and in different sizes. As there were many produced, a fair number circulate in the vintage market, making them a good target for collectors.

In terms of value, yours is limited due to its size. Assuming that the case back and movement are clean, I would say $400-600. The larger ones go for more, of course.

    Regards,

    Tony C.

Thanks Tony, appreciate your insight here. I also really enjoy the oversized sub-dial on these older JLC's and find that they give a certain character to these pieces. After wearing this one, I may be inclined to look for a 34mm version soon:)

In terms of value, I find most sub-dial variants (31mm and 34mm) to be particularly good value in the vintage market.

The 31mm size actually works very well on your wrist! I'm guessing a similar model 34mm would cost a bit more to track one down.

After wearing my 31mm, I'm now interested in trying out a similar 34mm piece. In my opinion, the differential between the two sizes is about 30-40%.

Lovely example. I've had a couple of similar JLCs in the past.

If you find the size too small, a bund-style strap can add some heft, though I think thry look best on a regular strap, as yours.

Lovely examples. If only I could find a 34mm w/ the sub-dial like in your picture.

Found a beautiful 31mm example on Ebay listed for over $1100 - if only this was 34mm and cheaper.

Congrats on a very interesting vintage JLC. The dial is awesome, looks like it wears a bit larger than the typical 31mm.

Don't feel sorry, the dial does look nice but the sunken subdial would make me fear it's redialed.
    Other opinions?

Dial is OK, crown looks like a replacment. Stainless steel case preferred over this one - looks chromed to me.

Agreed - looks chrome to me as well. I do prefer the SS on my watch instead.
