I have been buying some watches here and there and some I have never seen movements for. I like to be able to open them up and take a peek or even take some pics if I want to sell or trade them. I really don't want to go to the watch maker everytime to open a case. Also i like the ability to swap bands and bracelets with ease at home. So by looking at the old threads I see the tool to have for changing bands is the Bergeon 6767 but how about opening the case. Is there a basic tool kit that I can buy that would have all the stuff I need?
Casebook you say? This one opens a lot more than speedmasters. https://omegaforums.net/threads/pah...die-caseback-opener-highly-recommended.39120/
The standard adjustable case wrench. Don't go cheap. (Bergeron, Jaxa, L-G) Rubber ball (Horotec type but you can find something as good at Dollar Tree) Magnification (glasses/goggles and loupe) Case vise (aluminum) Case knife (for the snap type) Safety razor (to get the tight fit snap backs started) Even given all the above, you will still have trouble with half of them. Vintage watches tend to be stubborn. Practice practice practice
Great thread - is there a specific tool for removing Rolex bracelets, particularly with older cases with holes on the sides of the case?
