For people looking for an amazing ride, I recommend the Beartooth Pass in Yellowstone National Park. It is a road that goes through the border of Montana and Wyoming, at over 12000ft and is accessible through the NP area. It is open just for a few months during the summer and it is not frequently visited. Expect unstable weather over there, snow can happen even in the summer. I was fortunate enough to ride it in 2015, with my Valkyrie in a roundtrip of 3300 miles starting in California and going through over 8 States. A video of the Beartooth pass (audio plus fullscreen is recommended):
Another great ride is through the Joshua Tree National Park (South California). The blue sky in the desert is out of this world. Just be prepared to insane heat during summer, I've faced over 105F (41C) on my way to Barstow, after leaving Sonora and crossing the Yosemite National Park.
I also got recommend the Going to the Sun road, through the Glacier National Park (at the border with Canada, in Montana). The views of the valleys and crystal lakes between the mountains are amazing:
Close to SF Bay Area (CA), my favorite routes are the Carson Pass (on the way to Lake Tahoe) and the CA-01 (a.k.a. the Pacific route), on the way to the big Sur.
All good suggestions but any NorCal list that doesn't include highway 36 is incomplete. Plus if you are going to do Beartooth (which is actually not inside the park) you should be sure to hit Chief Joseph highway given the close proximity and equally amazing sites.
@West Slope indeed, the CA-36 (a.k.a. the Serpent to the Sea) is a top ride. Unfortunately, only drove (i.e. by car with my family) through there, but I'm saving it for this year. While at NorCal, we must include the Redwoods National Park and the Avenue of Giants:
Currently own everything in this pic, except the 1199S Tricolore and ZX7RR N1, plus 4 other bikes not pictured.
New to OF (hello!) and hadn't seen this thread. Some amazing-looking rides here. I guess it shouldn't surprise me to see a common interest in machinery, whether on the wrist or the road. Or off-road too of course Between Chama and Taos NM....
Very impressive. Third and fourth from the right, RC30 and OWO1? Begs the question "What are the four not pictured?"
All beautiful. The 996 though, timeless to me. Is that an “S” or did you install the kashima ohlins? Sry, that model was before my time and I can’t tell what variation. I was once a ducatista, had an 848, the epitome of hooligan machine with the first gen hypermotard, and a couple various monsters.
Yep, RC30 and OW01. KTM SDGT, '86 GSX-R1100, NS400R and RG500 not pictured. Thanks for positive comments folks. For the record, George Barber wins!
