My initial post stems from looking at white dial watches and realizing how interesting and varied the color is/can be... and besides variations in the base color there is gloss, matte and flat for effect not to mention how other choices affect the whiteness ~ font, color of font ~ size & placement / hands ~ size, etc.
Also material and processes - metal, plastic, enamel, porcelain, etc.
I've never really given much thought to white dial watches but wearing my wife's Seiko yesterday started me thinking about the color and how I've never really considered it for a watch for myself.
Can't find it currently but I recall a thread years back at the Rolex Forums where someone had asked about the truest white color Rolex dial and someone had replied with a certain serial DJ or OP (can't recall which) and then I went and looked it up and it was a very deep, rich, pure white.
