More Thrift Store Omegas

If some recall, I picked up a project Omega Constellation with an 18K case back on a 14k Carl Lindstrom bracelet about 3 weeks ago. Paid about $12 for it in a jar of jewelry! It will probably be used to get me closer to a Speedmaster. Anyway, I kept stopping by the thrift store in hopes of picking up other good buys and was told one day that “they are in the back pricing jewelry now but won’t be put it out until tonight”. I told my wife the next morning “I’m heading there as soon as they open to pick up another Omega!” They did not have any jars of jewelry and I was disappointed and then I looked at their random watches and they had 3 vintage watches that I had to have and bought a 4th plain LCD so I didn’t show any excitement or draw too much attention. Behold below. The Constellation is a keeper and will probably replace a Constellation I paid a buddy $700 in gold to get. This one is much better. To say I have tried to visit that store daily since is an understatement!

Flip the connie over and snap a pic
I know what you're thinking, and I'm thinking the exact same thing! ::stirthepot::

The store manager should be fired.😜
My biggest fear! I’m enjoying it while I can because honey holes like this are only good for a few months before they realize their mistakes or they hire someone who knows better and good watches are never seen again in the store. I already refer to this current period as “the good old days”.

The price tags look like they've been on a while. How many people before you looked at them and said: "$10.99??? Rip off"

Man, honey hole for sure.
EVEN THE seiko alone would have been a deal. The gents Omega is a redial, but only, $9 so can't go wrong.
Nice bracelet on the Connie.

Definitely getting close to a Speedy.

LED. I could not even think of what they were called. I did a search of “red numbers on watch”! And I’m old enough to remember when LCD was new and school calculators were all LED!

They must not have seen the decimal.

I'm also surprised that the donor (I assume the watches were donated by the original owner to the charity thrift store) of the watches didn't know better. Maybe the grandpa passed away, and nobody in the family thought these ugly watches were worth anything.

Timex LED - Required batteries = 2 X 357. Estimated battery life = 9 mo. Estimated battery life if you push the button = 4 mo.
Don't push the button.

Whenever I come across groups of similar items (rarely watches, but smoking pipes, dolls, glassware and the like), I always say “Grandma/Grandpa passed and the kids just gave away their collection! Sad but Hooray for me!”. It’s also the reason to try to accumulate any sort of collection as I already know my family will only recognize the value of a couple of items and undersell or donate the rest!
