311.30.44.51.01.002 doesn't seem to get a lot of love.

I can't shake the want to buy one - I really like them. I am one of those "professional" only guys so this would be a new direction for me.

Its a great watch, nothing at all wrong with it, it just has the same problem the Porsche 928 had in that its older brother, although far less technically sophisticated, is a rock star and casts a huge shadow.

True but it took them a decade to put the extra camshafts and valves in and get the power up, most of the ones you see around here are early 928s with that crummy 3-speed auto box and the SOHC engine, they're like $10-20k depending on how broken they are, then a 5-speed manual S4/GT/GTS ends up being 50-120k depending on how clean it is. Not many car models have quite such a big disparity between their top and bottom end.

It's my favorite modern Omega. I've owned it twice and just sold mine because I needed cash for non-watch things. I will most likely own another someday. Cal. 9300 is great but I think the main reason cited for it not getting a lot of love is the size and thickness. Personally I found it to wear comfortably but others seem to think it is too thick or too wide.

The size is what I love about the 9300... I saw a post somewhere on this forum where someone compared wrist shots of the moonwatch with the 9300 and I was surprised the size difference wasn't so obvious

Funny what a couple of extra camshafts and 16 more valves will do for the fun factor!

That extra pedal is turning into more of a relic with each model year... Damn paddle shifts...

    Nothing wrong with it.
The only "problem " with the speedy 9300 is that it's big brother is really the star of the show.
But if you think about it,the speedy 9300 is a step in the right direction.
I saw the speedy 9300 last week and I must say that I really don't understand the criticism regarding the thickness.
It is a well balanced sport watch with a fantastic aotumatic movement.
Probably one of the best all around sport watch you can buy.

I really love the 9300 movement...
    I love the double register...

And the really great part is how that same heartbeat could power such different watches....

The speedy is the most versatile...sport/dress
The deville is dressy (let's keep the dress chronograph argument out of this)
And the divers are just tanks.... image.jpg

Even looking at a 9300 for the next....

II bought the 311.30.44.50.01.002 because I wanted the thinner case (13.5mm) and three subdials instead of two. Unfortunately have to put it up for sale as I need the funds...
