Moonwatch. Is symbol on crystal supposed to be straight?

Yes; I admit to being a bit OCD.

I saw somewhere that there is a tiny Omega symbol in the center of the hesalite crystal on modern Speedmaster Professional models. So I just had to look. I found it easily enough on my new watch, but it is oriented so that "up" is at about the 4 instead of being aligned with the 12. Is that random alignment normal? Not that I'll ever see it without magnification, but I'd think if they would take the time to put it there, they'd at least install the crystal so that it was straight.

Just wondering if it's normal. And, yes, I sleep just fine with it being this way.

    Thanks,
    Tom

I think it's totally the luck of the draw as to which way the logo is oriented

No, though some watchmakers will try to do that for you as a courtesy.

I always line it up, but from Omega it will be random - they don't care.

If it's not dead on it means you got a dud. They let trainees build the watches the last 2 hours every Friday here in Switzerland. Bad luck, bubs. The Tuesday 10:00am watches are the ones you want if the money means anything to you.

Funny replies. Thank you. I figured the factory just slammed them in any old way. Again, it's not like you're really going to see it. But several years down the road when it gets its first service I'll probably ask for it to be straightened as a tribute to my OCD.

My Speedy faces the 8, whereas when I got a new crystal on my Seamaster it was carefully positioned upright. I guess that extra few seconds putting it on upright in the factory is time wasted - bring on the robots!

Ok so now I have to go look at them all right now...:whistling:
The tin Tin faces 5. Speedy Pro seems to face 12. Didn't notice it at all on my LE 2998 from last year. It's facing 6 on my Constellation so the crystal was replaced as the caseback and movement are from 1961. My grandfathers bumper automatic had no etching on the crystal and how in the f*** did I go from zero to 5 Omegas in a year ?!?!?

Heheheh.....before I sent my watch in for service the Omega logo on the crystal was a bit crooked. Now it's completely sideways. I can ignore it because it's not something I can see unless I really go look for it. But maybe next service I'll ask to have it aligned if I remember this in 5-8 years.... :)
