Hi chaps I was with a friend last night who has a moon watch but he has some how managed to put a crack in the glass !

On closer inspection imho it looked more like plexi

I will add some pictures later but the crack was like this one IMG_1629.JPG

I know this isn't the watch but crack was very similar so my question is is the lense sapphire or plexi ? Could it be either ??

I'll get some pictures in a mo and add it to this I just don't know enough about the watch but imo looks and felt more like plexiglass ?? It is very dome like and too curved for me to think it's sapphire ???

Any help greatly appreciated I'm going to get it fixed for him but needed help first !

More pics too follow of the glass !!!

Depending on the model, the Speedmaster professional can come with either Sapphire glass, or Hesalite (plastic).

Hesalite is the material used traditionally on this model, sapphire tends to be on the more flashy variants with display backs etc.

Not as expensive fix if it's plexiglass, $50 plus labour compared to $280 plus labour for sapphire

( think that's right for Omega parts )

I'm thinking hesalite as well. The edges appear more curved than the usual sharper-edged sapphire.

If you could take one more photo at THAT angle, I think the more junior members of this bunch (translate - ME) could definitely tell - the milky/halo effect is readily visible at that angle.

Yes, hesalite. Cheaper to replace than sapphire it is

I'm sorry, but I'm laughing. Add on the single word "hmmm" and end it all with a question mark and I see Yoda in my head giving WATCH advice! Blame your avatar pic. :p
