My Tissot Vissodate. This is the watch that got me back into the groove of this awesome hobby of ours. Originally wanted a vintage watch, but didn't want to worry about vintage things =)

The Seiko Turtle, SRP777 is pretty fun. I have one of these and the 6309 that it's based on and they're both really cool watches. Pretty affordable as well, though the originals are going up in price these days.

Doxa's whole lineup pretty much fits in this category as well. Here's my 1200T Sharkhunter. A bit spendy if you buy it new, but it's a hell of a lot of WR for the money, and a very cool watch imo.

Check out Orient Bambinos. Vintage look available in a bunch of dial and hand combos. Super affordable.

I have always thought that trade schools offer good value. Or maybe a military career. Have you done the cost benefit for yourself? :D

I've always thought these were a nice homage to the original:

It is my pleasure dear, always. I intend to buy this one once I try on my wrist next month. A 1918 reissued Longines..

Why isn't the date window department communicating with the rest of the company?

Because Longines of late is adamant in adding date window to every watch. Perhaps they think the customers will buy only if it has a date complication. It's absurd to say the least. Thats why there is no communication.

I tried on the Longines Classic Diver today. Damn that's one nice watch. Dress and casual with the size and thin movement with the inner bezel.

Then I thought about the new Oris
    IMG_4189.JPG

Both great vintage inspired divers. I love the oris but your not going to pull dress looks with it with the outer Bezel and funky style.

I love the Oris but the Longines is way more multi purpose.

This LDD is a legend but w/o date. Longines added an appendage called date in an otherwise gorgeous watch. Oris is going great nowadays and a very good independent watchmakers. It's a tough call I must say. Whatever you decide will be a great watch. Please post pics once you decide. Good luck.

Odds are I will get neither of them. I had not seen a Longines Diver in the flesh before and met the US Rep for them today at an event put on by ablogtowatch.com I was really impressed, great size, great dress to casual looks, decent price esp on jomashop. It also looks way better in person. I had some issues with the fact that the case was all polished with no brushing, which I think the watch needed. The watch just has to much overlap with what I already own. I personally think that the Oris is the better looking watch but more limited in what you can wear it with, but again to much overlap with what I have.

I heard the date window department (DWD) eats lunch by themselves at a lonely table in the cafeteria every day, shunned by their peers.

Well, can you blame the rest of the company? It's akin to putting an ugly hood ornament like this on a sleek sports car.

As a sucker for vintage chronographs, the Junghans Meister Telemeter really caches my eye. ::love::
