Hi All, I'm not sure if this topic has been covered before/recently. I am interested in seeing which modern watches members would nominate as a classic watch either now or possibly in the future. I'm looking for your top one or two nominations only, across any price range or make/model, for watches produced in the last 10-15 years. They do not have to be watches which you think will appreciate in value but more towards watches which build on a classic design or a new design which you feel has a classic appeal. I would like to start off with my nomination of a 2254.50. Not a cutting edge new design but one which draws on elements from classic vintage omegas with modern elements added.
It may be because I've considered buying one for the last few months, but to my mind the SBDX001/017 is iconic. They draw on Seiko's heritage of excellent divers, showcase the unique design philosophies of the greatest non-European manufacturer, and are the epitome of form following function. That they are excellent value and less ubiquitous than their peers are just added bonuses.
Mondaine Stop to Go? It's easy to read and they are not expensive. I bought one of these in 2016. It was brought out for the Gotthard Tunnel opening. Nice and comfortable on the wrist and winding it back and forth is quite fun. (image taken from the internet)
14060, Tritium, 2 Line, Pierced Lugs Fits all the criteria of Modern Classic PS: faded Tritium insert and sharp unpolished case are great bonuses
