Is that the address in Philly?

yes it is, I couldn't resist a peek at google maps when I saw it ... I was kinda disappointed at the result.

I already have one of those.

I wish the seconds hand had a counterbalance in the reissue model, just like the original.

Yes that was a big turn off for me. They had a story about the original they were working off of had a broken off counterbalance. I call B.S. and that it was cheaper for them to use an off the shelf seconds hand.

I am seriously considering this A-11 style watch from Praesidus. It comes in authentic 32mm dimensions, stainless steel case, 10am water resistance, and a manual wind Swiss Soprod. I own an original that is in very good shape, but I am reluctant to wear it. I like the idea of a robust, true to the original recreation. What do you all think for $545?

I was looking at praesidus as well for a while..interesting design and pretty cool looking.

Will you be following up to purchase the A-11?

Yup- just a silver second hand- not white, no rear lolipop- not even close

I think I have decided to pass on this one, but if you decide to go for it, I would love to hear your reaction to it in person. I think, I'll stick with just my original A-11. It is good to wear protected under a sweater on a cool dry day.

That’s how I wear mine. The modern Bulova hack gets the humid summer days and freak thunderstorms

Apologies for the late response.

I'm still on the fence regarding it; and I dont think i will be getting it any time soon.

Would prefer to look around and make a wiser decision regarding some military style watches I have my eye on. e.g CWC G10 / Monin style diver

Perhaps, I should edit my request to say. "If you see one at a reasonable price, send me a link." I think the seller is a bit optimistic about the price.

Looks like that's it. And very cheap. BENRUS COMMEMORATIVE U.S. MILITARY WATCH RE-ISSUE | eBay
Thank me later😀

I bought the A-11 from Praesidus back when they had a Black Friday sale and I have to say that I was completely unimpressed with the quality. It all felt cheap…too cheap for the price. I knew the movement was solid, but even winding it I felt like I could break it it felt so cheap. Combined with with the fact the companies customer service was terrible… they said you could get a free strap with purchase and then they told me that offer was a year old and outdated. They didn’t give me anything else in return. So I was all around unimpressed.

I had been on the lookout for an original a-11, and they are hard to find for a good price in good mechanical condition and aesthetic condition. It was just how they were made back then… the case just didn’t stand up to the test of time.

Ironically I did end up getting one of those 50th anniversary Benrus D-Day reissues. It’s got a solid ETA movement even though the watch is assembled in China. And it’s closer to a late-Vietnam era mil spec than a d-day spec so I was always confused by that. It is a cool watch though, and I wear it quite a bit.

Thanks for the feedback @pbook4g5 Good to know about Praesidus, glad I decided to take a pass on it. I agree about the "D-Day reissue" being strange, definitely looks like a Vietnam era watch.

Yeah the benrus reissue is essentially a Mil-w-46374 spec watch. Not even really close to an a-11..closer to the a-17 series for sure

The Benrus D-day reissue pissed a lot of people off. First of all, they weren’t a supplier during WWII, they never made any of the models that were around on D-day, they used their Vietnam era design (as mentioned above) as the style for the 40th Anniv. D-day watch- just fired and missed at every turn. It was so unpopular that there was tons of unsold stock.
Flash forward almost 30 years and we have a 33mm stainless cased watch with manual winding eta movement, Tritium dial and hands in a classic military style….hell yes!

Yeah it really didn’t make any sense to label it a d-day anniversary watch.

But it’s still cool regardless, as you’ve pointed out

Those are pretty cool. How does it wear? Big and chunky or on the lighter side for a diver? I have been tempted by them in the past, and did you notice that your shadow made a slightly deformed looking heart in the photo?
