    Hi Guys,

I recently built up a Mitsukoshi modded 311.30.42.30.01.005 and it's gotten great feedback in my little social circle. So much so in fact that I have 3 people asking if I want to sell it to them right now but the thing is I'm not sure what the going price is for a modded Mitsukoshi. I used brand new omega service parts from swisslimitededitions and a brand new donor base model so if it's not even equal to my parts cost then there's no way I'm selling it. I tried looking around on chrono24 but the spread of what people are asking for mitsukoshi modded speedys is crazy from 6k to 14k

Do you want to make a profit or just help someone close to you get a watch that they like and you might not be interested on wearing anymore. I would start finding my reason to sell the watch first. If you don’t wear the watch or are thinking about getting something new then just add what you put into the watch and tell the potential buyers how much did it cost you to put it together and let them make the decision.

Asking prices aren’t selling prices. IMO market-clearing price will be less than the sum of the parts cost, so there you go.

2nd to what Darlinboy said, not always one can get the sum of the parts (or repair costs)

Been one sitting a while at $6,500. Have seen some others listed elsewhere for about $4,500, and I'm not sure they have sold yet.

If you are starting with a brand new Speedmaster and then adding in the cost for all the Mistu parts you will likely have trouble recouping your outlay, let alone getting anything money to cover the labor costs..

i've been watching these all year. about $4200-4500 is a reasonable ask that seems to sell (probably a few hundred below that ask). sales at higher prices are full set sapphire sandwich models.

a few years ago $3200 to $3800 was common.

Used modern Moonwatches have been selling for between $3000-$3600, depending on age/warranty and red box vs big black box, and the Mitsukoshi dial/handset adds about $1000 to that. My watchmaker charged me $40 to swap dial/hands.

When the mistukoshi dials are all gone the prices will be like the watchco seamasters.

So the mitsukoshi modded watches will drop in value a bit down to the Watchco level? That is a $1k or so drop.

i wonder if all these are authentic mitsukoshi dials. so many on ebay for a watch that was limited to 300. makes me wonder why we don't see any other dial up for sale in these quantities.

No, after the watchco's stopped being made (Omega started controlling the flow of parts) the price went up. Once the stock out there of the dials are gone, the dials or rather watches with the dials will be harder to get and worth more. Watchco 300's could have been bought at half the price people are getting now. I never bought one and I am kicking myself. I think I remember being able to buy them for 1200 USD then?

Your post said the prices may be like the Watchco Seamasters. Which seem to be in the $2,500 - $3,200 range. Thus my question.

Okay, what I meant was it would be like the sm300 in terms of price going up in the future like they did. Not the $ actual value itself.

keep in mind, the mitsukoshi dial can still be purchased from omega (from a watchmaker with an account). can the watchco dial?

Not sure. However, since this mistukoshi was released in 2003 and limited to just 300 pieces Omega won't just sell anyone a huge lot of the dials since they're aware of modding and only a few will ever really need replacing. Discussions prior to now established that in most cases Omega will require a serial number for parts - obviously making it more challenging (I suppose) to get them.

I'm in no rush to get a speedy MW but bought my dial a while ago for this reason.

There are most likely more modded watches than real ones out there. No serial number is required to purchase this dial.

On Recon I just saw a near mint modded going for 4k.
Honestly if I didn't just buy a PO, I would buy it.

4k seems to be right around market price. Some use a display back model as a donor which could bump it up a few hundred. Of course depends on condition.

@OP, it’s probably best to direct your friends through the build process to come up with a fair price. As stated above, the sum doesn’t always equal the parts.
