Stepped dial Constellation 2853 on flat link bracelet.

    017.JPG

I got this head only and have been itching to get this bracelet, which I bought with a 2954, onto it. I first treated them both to a service and a very light brushing
of the bracelet centre links to build the anticipation.

But being a purist and a bit of romantic since the service a couple of weeks ago I've been wearing the 2954 together with its bracelet and couldn't bring myself to separate them as its a fantastic watch and they have probably been together for over 60 years.

    Tonight I couldn't wait any longer. :)

You would think that bracelet would not work on a watch like that, but then you see the combination together and ::jumpy::.

Yes I love the look, although I don't think I could pull off a Grand Luxe.

I've been trying to find more out about this bracelet and had been assuming that it was specifically for the Constellation line. But while looking through AJTT I noticed 2 or 3 period 1950s advertisements featuring it, surprisingly they were all Seamaster advertisements which I hadn't been expecting.

The best era for Omega I think is from the introduction of the Constellation line through to the trinity of CK's, 2913, 2914 and 2915.

An amazing line up, gorgeous dress watches and innovative tool watches. What more could you want?

With the Calibre 8500 and 9300 pieces we're seeing at the moment, I think after many decades Omega's returning to that era at the moment :D

Actually "Mission" is not complete. I figure we need about 10-12 more of these. I'll take one in Rose Gold please.;)

Just curious, why it is very seldom to see this flat link gold bracelet. I've seen many brick and beads of rice offer but very very few flat link. Any explanation?

    It's a good question, but I don't have a good answer I'm afraid.
Only to say that the majority of gold Constellations that I have seen still attached to their original gold bracelets have been the Grand de Luxe, followed by the late 60s C shape and then a few dome dial 564 hidden/semi hidden crown with Milanese.
In this first period of the early bumpers and 50x series Constellations the bracelets that were available were not specifically designated to a certain watch ( exception: Grand Luxe) or even watch line and were actually an optional extra at point of sale. Omega slowly began to change this in the late 50s early 60s.
Desmond has written an interesting article on the matter here, featuring my 2954 :
    http://omega-constellation-collectors.blogspot.nl/2013/08/rare-accessorised-omega-constellation.html
I would speculate that perhaps due to issues with broken springs in the stretch links they were more likely to break and be scrapped at some point compared to the brick/bead variants.
