Just recently SOLD my Constellation Pie Pan Cal.561 Gold Cap. And I have to say, I'm already missing it! The case shape was actually really nice IMO...not sure of the reference?

If anyone has anything similar with a pristine dial and are looking to sell please let me know! :)

There's no shortage of them so don't sweat it. Get yourself a solid gold specimen.

I sold a solid 14k 168.005 constellation 3 years ago and regretted it ever since - however, I sent the buyer an email last year asking him if he ever considered selling it, to let me know.

Two weeks ago, I got an email from him offering to sell it back for the price he paid for it :) It is now back in my possession, where it will stay this time.

Here you go. I know it is a little over polished for some peoples liking, but I really like this one. I have had a sharp 18k model before which had a near perfect dial which I sold, but this is the one I regretted selling for some reason. It has a 3010 bracelet , which I am thinking about changing for a leather strap. I do like the beads of rice bracelets, but the colour doesnt quite match the watch.

The problem with that bracelet is that the endlinks being steel are also going to wear on the lugs and case and scratch the hell out of it. It'd look great on a classy leather strap

Yes - I definitely agree a nice leather strap looks very classy on a gold connie, here is the 18k model that I mentioned earlier (and sold :( ) 29122010259.jpg

Thanks Nick. I,ve picked up a few other nice Omega's since then, but I haven't had the heart to flip any yet. I also picked up a fantastic 1944 Universal Geneve Tri-compax last year that I will do a separate post on - as one of our experts mentioned a few weeks ago - it's an under appreciated brand still, that could do with its own forum, cheers, Paul

I have picked up a couple myself as well :) I keep telling myself I wont buy anymore, but get drawn back into it!!! I'm on the lookout for a 60's Speedmaster at the moment, but dont know much about them, so having to do a little research.

Could do with a Speedmaster version of Desmond's Constellation blog!

Did you ever let the 18k 551 go? I have a couple of 561's which also fall within the 100,000 range, although I hadn't really checked until you mentioned it above. Not sure if it adds anything to the watches accuracy or value, but I guess it adds a nice little bit of history to it.

Hi Nick, no, still got the 14831 c551 as well. Wrt speed masters, I guess you,ve seen chuck Maddox,s excellent site?

wrt the 100,000, Desmond reckoned that on a good day, following wind etc, it may make a slight 5-10% difference, but I,d guess it all comes down to a good description and excellent photos

    cheers, Paul

I will take a look at Chuck Maddox site - A good place to start I guess - Going to start a thread looking for a little advice on here. I'm getting pretty good at spotting Pie pan connies and whether or not they are genuine, but at the moment wouldn't have a clue with the Speedmaster.
    Thanks all :)

It's a minefield, but there are many experts here and in other forums who can help - which is essential when buying this much sought after iconic model.

I,ve got only one speedmaster - the quirky automatic mark 4.5 model.

    cheers, Paul

Yes - its called a "Brown Morellato M1801"
I got it off a seller on ebay, but he doesnt have an account any more - I have emailed him to see if he still sells them - I will message you his email address if he gets back to me.
I cant find it for sale anywhere else

Update to the above - the seller is still on ebay and uses the name "rubicon-watchco"
