image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg My father passed away this summer. One of the things that he left me was this watch. All I know about it is that he received it as a present from my grandparents when he graduated from high school. He wore it for many years. I'm looking for info on this particular watch and advice on what I should do to refurb it. Thanks in advance. -Andy

    Looks like a 2975 circa 1960 Seamaster
    with Big Logo Hippocamus(desirable)
    The dial has been refinished.
Find a suitable dial on ebay.
Have it serviced for a couple hundred bucks
    and good to go
    Should look like this
This girl is trying to restore her dad's too.
    Her's is missing it's bezel.
Maybe you can work something out ; )

Thanks for the responses. Where can I get it serviced? Can any jeweler service it or do I need to send it to Omega directly? i didn't realize it was missing a "bezel". What's the best way to find a replacement Bezel? Thanks again.

Contact Al Archer, who is a member of this forum. He could help with service.
As far as locating a replacement bezel - good luck. Omega is not likely to have this as a replacement part. In the end, you might have to find a donor watch and use the bezel from that or have one fabricated.

Sorry for your loss, Andy. ... Beautiful watch and a nice way to remember your dad. Track down a reliable local watchmaker. Some higher-end jewelers will have one, but certainly not all.

If you send it to Omega, they likely will replace some parts, which isn't necessarily what you want.

Take your time, poke around, ask questions. If you like watches, the journey will be rewarding. Good luck, and keep us posted. Cheers.
