Hi everyone. I have just purchased this 1954 Omega Seamaster and I have a doubt. As you can see in the pictures, the 10 and 11-hour indices are not perfectly aligned with the black mark underneath.
I am fairly new to vintage watches and I am not sure how common this problem is. Also, is it something easily fixable?
I would like your opinion on this as I am still deciding if it is worth keeping or if I should return it instead. Thanks!!!

Only fixable by returning the watch.

This one is a pretty poor redial. :(

The finish (paint and script) has been redone on the watch. This brings down the value, sometimes considerably.
There are possibly other issues with the watch.

If you are interesting acquiring a similar , but much better, watch to the one you just bought , I would suggest you hang around here and read posts that will better educate you . Also we have a for sale forum here where reputable people offer quality watches at fair prices.

    I would return this watch.

If it is possible you should consider returning the watch.

You will find a much better watch with the help of the forum. Before you buy, post what you are interested in and you will get a wealth of opinions and suggestions.

    Thank you so much Kingsrider!
Since you offered I will attch some pictures of watches I am keeping an eye on (it's 9 of them, 1 pict for each). Also, I know it depends on the conditions of the watch, but how much is it "fair/reasonable" to spend for one of these?
    Thanks!

I think that posting a single picture of 9 watches and expecting an appraisal for each one is asking a bit too much of the members here.

My answer is somewhere between zero and infinity for all.

BTW, some of those watches are redials or dials that never existed in nature.

Take them one at a time and get pictures front, back, of the movement and inside the caseback. Then we'll have something to work with.

    Also, asking prices might help.

The third watch in your pictures looks like it has been painted by a small child.

Like the look of the first though.

Yeah, I figured that was a little too much :). Although I have to admit I have no idea on how to spot bad dials.
Anyhow, I will post pictures of 2 watches I like
The asking price for this is $660

...and this. Asking price $850. It has been just serviced and the seller offers 1 year guarantee. Plus it is not far from me so I could just go pick it up.

I don't know about that dial but if I was forced to give an opinion, I would say redial. That is a Zodiac crown if I am not mistaken. The movement is in rough condition too. Not a $600 watch.

Price is way too high, IMO.

    Maybe $400? A little more?

    Certainly not $850.

Wow, that rotor on the first watch. Looks almost like rust pitting. I agree the second look better.

The first one of the two is a redial without any possible shadow of a doubt. Even if the gross mismatch between the condition of the dial and the rest of the watch weren't obvious, the crosshairs on those Seamasters do not break in the middle as here. The watch is dire in just about every possible way - rusted and pitted movement, polished case back, a case that looks like it's been in a dinosaur's mouth, wrong crown - need I go on?
