I don't know if anyone else's spouse has been beating the Marie Kondo drum, but mine has forced me to take a look at my ever sprawling collection and apply those principles. In doing so, I'll be making some hard decisions in the next few months, and this represents the first of them. I purchased this absolutely perfect example from the original owner, who received it as a high school graduation gift and almost never wore it. If you aren't familiar with the Big Block evolution, the reference 79180 is the second iteration and shares its case shape with the 94300 series. This is an early 79180 and the 40mm case wears very well on average-sized wrists (and in my opinion, wears better than the subsequent Tudor chronos).

I have done nothing to this watch since purchasing and as you can see in the pictures, other than a bit of dust on the inside of the crystal, it is in absolutely perfect shape. I'll be sad to see this one go, but I've enjoyed my time with it. Full condition report below:

Dial / Handset: This is my favorite dial, as it is identical to the finishing / aesthetic on four-digit Daytonas. Most importantly, these dials were fully matte, which is (to me) visually superior to the "shiny" subdials that followed subsequently. The dial and handset are perfect, with matching patina on the tritium lume. It has started to age to a creamy yellow color and is beautiful in-person. Any imperfections that are pictured in the hi-res photos are dust specks on the underside of the crystal.

Case/Bezel/Caseback: As clearly pictured, the 40mm case is in mint condition. Factory bevels are untouched on all four lugs. Bezel still retains all black ink within the numerals, and other than a couple surface swirls is in perfect condition. Caseback is in similarly great condition and there are no marks on the underside of the lugs. I have not removed the bracelet since receiving, as I could visually identify it as a ref. 79180 and I did not want to put any unnecessary marks on the case. If the buyer needs pictures of the serial, I'm happy to provide separately.

Movement / Functionality: As I stated in the preamble above, this watch had been sitting in a drawer (within a soft cloth) for over 25 years before I purchased it. Despite this time on layaway, the Valjoux 7750 winds and sets with no issues or friction. Quickset date works perfectly. While I do not formally time my watches, I have worn this probably 20-30x since purchasing last year and it appears to keep perfect time. Screwdown pushers are in perfect shape and the chronograph starts, stops, and resets crisply. The watch is sold as-is and I'd recommend a service within the next couple of years, but as it stands today, there are no issues.

Bracelet: Original 78360 oyster bracelet with Tudor clasp is in perfect condition with zero stretch. All links are present and are tight. Clasp contains an engraving of the original owner's initials.

My asking price is $6,300, which includes fully insured Fedex Priority shipping. Payment via PayPal (F&F or add 3% if using PP) or direct bank wire. US sale strongly preferred. Face-to-face in Chicago is also welcome for local buyers. Finally, I have plenty of references available as a buyer and seller that I can provide if necessary. Thanks for looking and thanks to OF for the space.
