Has anyone watched the Netflix series Mindhunter? If not I would highly recommend it, as well as being a great story (really only just started, there will be more seasons) the 70's style is great. It's set in 1977 and because the main focus is the FBI the fashions and cars have to be a bit staid and I think this is maybe why the production team has featured watches quite prominently. I'm fairly new to watch collecting but I'm sure there are folks out there who could identify the models used. The main character Holden Ford wears what I thought was probably a Rado and I've seen people suggest a Diastar, could be. His partner Bill Tench wears an early digital, not my scene but I would guess a Casio. For me the most interesting is their boss, Shepard, who wears a great looking blue dialled diver of some sort, I'd love to know what it is but can't find anything online yet. The two main female characters, psychologists Wendy Carr (below) and Holden's girlfriend Debbie Mitford also wear prominent watches which I can't identify. Anyone want to have a go?
Instead of starting Mindhunter last night I started True Detective with Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. I only watched the first episode but I am intrigued.
So far two episodes down and no remarkable watches, cars, or guns. Despite these failings it is an excellent show so far.
Season 1 of True Detective is excellent television. Do yourself a favor and skip Season 2 though. It's not nearly up to the same standard.
I saw the second season and wasn't too keen on going back and watching the first, but a friend convinced me I should.
Just binge watched Mindhunter over the weekend. Great show! I agree that the first season of True Detective was fantastic! Not a big Matthew McConaughey fan, but he was crazy good, as well as, Woody Harrelson. I started watching the 2nd season of True Detective with a new cast and didn't get past the 2nd episode. I will say that the actor who plays Holden Ford in Mindhunter does a great job.
I really enjoyed Mindhunter and look forward to the second series. I also loved those 70s cars they drove around in. As they seemed to criss cross the USA by plane they always had a different hire car at each location.
I have been trying to figure out the watches since starting it also... Is it maybe a Hamilton Time Computer?
The Bulova Computron has the screen on the side though, his is on the top, that's why it's throwing me off so much. Me too. Its SUCH a good show.
