I do know it’s 20 micron plating but what material is the plating ? Were they WG plating during the late 70s/80s? Or was it silver

Just adding on more info on this watch…

The reference is 511.417 and appears to be a steel case. However the 20 hallmark on the case side indicates 20-micron plating (next to the triangle with the omega logo inside).

The inside of the caseback confirms that the caseback is steel (Fond Acier Inoxyable) and it also says “Lunette Plaque Or L 20 Microns” with a “tombstone” hallmark with what appears to be the letters “GDR”.

Did omega plate steel cases with WG in the 70s? Could it be rhodium plating on a steel case? Or something else?

Numerous 511.417 watches on the internet indicate white gold plate.
